Managing agents and residential blocks in Crawley Down

Communal garden maintenance in Crawley Down

Shared lawns, verges and boundary hedges kept tidy for residents on newer and older developments.

Communal garden maintenance in Crawley Down has grown with the village. Around 300 homes were approved in just three years before 2015, and more are on the way west of Turners Hill Road. Newer schemes often hand their shared verges, open space and boundary planting to a management company, and residents notice quickly when the grass gets shaggy.

We already look after communal beds and hedges at blocks of flats round our way, so the routine is familiar. Lawns cut and edged, beds weeded, hedges kept off paths and parking bays, and leaves cleared before they block a drain.

What we look after

  • Communal lawns and verges
  • Parking court beds and kerb lines
  • Boundary and screening hedges
  • Bin store and entrance planting
  • Paths, steps and gravel kept weed-free
  • Leaf clearance from paths and drains
  • Gritting paths, steps and car parks in frost and snow

More about blocks and communal grounds

Communal hedge, shaped

Communal garden maintenance on Crawley Down’s newer estates

New-build open space usually goes in as turf or seed over ground that machinery has squashed flat, with whips and young shrubs planted in tidy rows. For the first few years it needs more care than it looks. Failed plants want replacing, thin turf needs careful cutting, and young hedges need weeding round before bramble gets in. Grounds maintenance in those early years sets the tone for decades. We’ll work to the developer’s management plan if there is one, or write you a sensible annual schedule.

Block of flats garden maintenance on a fixed price

For blocks of flats and managed sites we write an annual schedule, agree a fixed price and invoice monthly or quarterly. Quotes are itemised, so a residents’ company can see where the money goes, and we’ll price against an existing spec if you have one. If your agent needs our insurance certificates, we’ll send them over. Most visits fall on weekdays, when a lot of residents are at work, and we keep mowers well clear of parked cars and bin stores.

Blocks and communal grounds in Crawley Down: your questions

Anything else, just ring. You’ll speak to the people who do the work.

Do you work for managing agents or directly for residents?

Either. Plenty of village blocks are run by a residents’ management company with no agent at all. We’re happy to report to whoever holds the contract.

Can you take over from another contractor partway through the year?

Yes. Send us the spec and a site plan, and we’ll walk the site and price it. We can start at the next sensible point in the season.

What about leaves in the car park?

Leaf clearance from paths, parking courts and drains is part of an autumn schedule. Where there are big trees on the boundary, we’d plan in extra visits from October.

Can residents contact you directly?

Usually we report to whoever holds the contract, so requests go through one place. If the agent is happy for us to deal with a residents’ representative on day-to-day things, that works too.

Walk the site with us.

We’ll come out, look at the grounds with you and send a written schedule and a fixed price for the year.
