Commercial gritting
Office car parks, entrances, paths and ramps gritted ahead of the frost, before anyone arrives.
Commercial gritting for office car parks, entrances, paths, ramps and walkways across Horley, Crawley, Reigate and the towns around them. We grit ahead of the frost, so the first person in the car park in the morning walks in on a treated surface.
We look after offices and business units, blocks of flats, care homes and surgeries, shops, pubs and hotels, churches and schools. It’s the same team that looks after the grounds the rest of the year, so we already know your site.
What we treat
- Main entrances, doorways and steps
- Ramps and level access routes
- Car park walkways and disabled bays
- Paths between buildings, bin stores and fire exits
- Communal paths at blocks of flats
- Snow cleared from priority routes before salting

Who we grit for.
Across Horley, Crawley, Reigate and the towns around them.
Offices and business units
Car parks, walkways, entrances and fire exits gritted before staff arrive, so the working day doesn’t start with someone on the floor.
Blocks of flats and managing agents
Communal paths, car parks and bin store routes treated on the forecast, without anyone needing to ring. Costs agreed up front for the service charge.
Care homes and surgeries
Ramps and level paths treated before the early shift and the first ambulance or visitor, with residents and patients on walking aids in mind.
Shops, pubs and hotels
The route from the car park to the door gritted for customers and guests, including the ones leaving late or setting off early.
Churches
Porch paths, steps and car parks treated ahead of services and funerals.
Schools and nurseries
Gates, paths and entrances done before drop-off, when parents are carrying children and nobody’s looking at their feet.
How it works.
Agreed before the first frost, then left to us.
Walk the site
We walk the site with you and agree which routes get treated, marked on a simple plan: entrances, ramps, car park walkways, fire exits, bin stores.
Watch the forecast
Through the winter we keep an eye on the forecast for your area. When a frost or snow is on the way, we come out without you having to ring.
Grit before you open
Visits happen the evening before or early in the morning, before staff, residents or customers are about, so the salt has time to work.
Keep a record
Each visit is noted with the date and time and the routes treated, so you’ve something to show if anyone ever asks what was done.
Your duty of care, in plain terms
Anyone running premises has to take reasonable care that visitors are reasonably safe, and workplaces have to keep their paths and routes free of slip hazards so far as is reasonably practicable. In winter that means having a plan for ice and snow, and being able to show you followed it.
Gritting cuts the risk sharply and shows you took sensible steps. A written route plan and a record of when each visit happened are exactly what an insurer or investigator will want to see.
Pay per visit or a seasonal arrangement
There are two ways of working. Pay per visit means you’re only charged when the weather calls for it, so a mild winter costs very little. A seasonal arrangement is a fixed approach for the whole winter, which makes budgeting simpler, especially for service charges.
Either way we agree it in writing before the season starts. For blocks of flats, a single-season agreement is usually the simplest route for managing agents.
When it snows
Salt on deep snow just makes slush that freezes again, so in snow we clear the agreed priority routes first, the entrances, ramps and main walkways, then salt the cleared surface. In a long cold spell we come back and treat again, because rain, fresh snow and footfall all wear the grit away.
Questions people ask
Anything else, just ring. You’ll speak to the people who do the work.
Do you keep a record of each visit?
Yes. Every visit is noted with the date, the time and the routes treated, and we can send it to you for your records.
Can you grit before we open?
That’s the point of it. We grit the evening before a frost or early in the morning, before staff, residents or customers are about.
Do we need to ring you each time?
No. Once we’ve agreed your site plan, we come out when frost or snow is forecast. You can still ring if something needs doing in between.
Can we choose which areas are treated?
Yes. We walk the site with you and mark the routes on a simple plan, usually entrances, ramps, car park walkways, fire exits and bin store paths.
Is it better to pay per visit or for the season?
Pay per visit suits sites that want to pay only when it freezes. A seasonal arrangement suits sites that want a fixed budget. We’ll talk you through both.
Do you grit office car parks?
Yes. Car parks, the walkways from them to the entrance, disabled bays, fire exits and loading areas, all agreed on your site plan.
When does the winter service run?
Usually from November to the end of March, and we’ll agree the dates with you before the season starts.
Are you insured?
Yes, we’re fully insured, and copies of our certificates are available on request for your records.
