School grounds maintenance

Grass, hedges and boundaries planned around the school day, for schools around Horley, Crawley and Reigate.

School grounds need looking after on a schedule that fits around the children, not the other way round. We cut fields and verges, keep boundary hedges in check and keep paths clear, and we plan the noisy work for when pupils aren’t outside.

Bigger jobs, like cutting back an overgrown boundary or clearing a neglected corner, can be booked for half-terms and the summer holidays.

What we look after

  • Playing field and verge mowing
  • Boundary hedges and fence lines
  • Shrub beds by entrances and car parks
  • Paths kept clear of overhanging growth
  • Holiday clearances and tidy-ups
  • Leaf clearance from playgrounds and paths
  • Paths and entrances gritted before the school day

Safeguarding comes first

We work to your safeguarding procedures: signing in and out at reception, wearing visitor badges, and keeping to the areas agreed with your premises or site manager. Wherever possible we schedule work for before school, after school or when pupils are off site, so nobody is mowing near a playground at break time.

Tell us what your school needs from contractors and we’ll make sure it’s in place before we start.

Term time and holidays

Through term time we keep to a regular cutting schedule and quick tidy visits. The holidays are when we tackle the bigger jobs, when the site is quiet and we can work without restrictions.

How a contract works.

The same simple process for every site.

  1. Walk-round

We meet you on site, walk the grounds, and note what matters: the frontage people see first, the awkward bits, access times and anything residents or staff have complained about.

  2. Schedule and price

You get a written schedule for the year listing every task and how often it happens, with one fixed price. Itemised, so it’s easy to compare quotes or take to a board.

  3. Regular visits

We start on an agreed date and visit on the agreed days. The same team is on site every time, so the people doing the work are the people you spoke to.

  4. Review

Once a year we walk the site with you again, look at what worked and what didn’t, and adjust the schedule for the next season.

Questions people ask

Anything else, just ring. You’ll speak to the people who do the work.

Can you work outside school hours?

Yes. We usually plan school visits for early mornings, after pupils leave, or the holidays, depending on what your site manager prefers.

Do you cut the playing field too?

Yes. Playing fields are mown and kept tidy through the year, with the cutting planned around games lessons, sports day and the school holidays.

Who do we deal with?

The same team, every time. Your business manager or site manager gets one number to ring.

Walk the site with us.

We’ll come out, look at the grounds with you and send a written schedule and a fixed price for the year.
