School grounds maintenance in Epsom
Fields, hedges and paths kept tidy around lessons, safeguarding rules and the holidays.
Epsom packs a lot of education into a small town. There are academies such as Glyn, Rosebery and Blenheim High, independent schools including Epsom College and Kingswood House, and two specialist colleges, UCA Epsom and Laine Theatre Arts. School grounds maintenance in Epsom has to suit sites of every size, and each one has a timetable we work around.
We cut fields and verges, keep boundary hedges off paths and fences, and save the loud jobs for when pupils are inside or away. Larger work goes into half-terms and the summer break. Every visit is planned with your site manager, so nobody is surprised to see a mower by the gate.
What we look after
- Playing field and verge mowing
- Boundary hedges and fence lines
- Shrub beds by entrances and car parks
- Paths kept clear of overhanging growth
- Holiday clearances and tidy-ups
- Leaf clearance from playgrounds and paths
- Paths and entrances gritted before the school day

Playing fields on Epsom’s clay and chalk
A school field on the clay side of town behaves very differently from one nearer the chalk. Clay fields go soft over winter, and mowing them then leaves ruts that harden into trip hazards by spring, so we watch the ground and move a cut if it’s sodden. Chalk fields have the opposite trouble, drying and thinning in a hot summer, so we keep the grass a little longer.
A school grounds maintenance contract that follows the school year
Term time is regular mowing, hedge trimming and quick tidy-ups, timed for before school, after pupils leave, or when classes are in. The holidays are for bigger jobs: overgrown boundaries, neglected corners and hedge reductions, ideally in the October and February half-terms once nesting is over. On site we sign in, wear visitor badges and stay in the areas agreed with your site manager. The price is fixed and invoiced monthly or quarterly.
Schools and academies in Epsom: your questions
Anything else, just ring. You’ll speak to the people who do the work.
Will you quote against our current specification?
Yes. We’ll price your existing spec, or help you put one together if you’re starting fresh.
Do you mark out sports pitches?
No. Line marking and specialist pitch work aren’t things we offer. We’d rather tell you now than let you find out in September.
Will it be different people every time?
No. The same team comes on every visit, so reception and your site staff always know who to expect.
Can you cut back overgrown boundary hedges during the holidays?
Yes. The October and February half-terms are best, because nesting has finished and the site is quiet. We check every hedge for nests first and take all the cuttings away.
