Garden maintenance in Horne
A regular visit that keeps a large Horne garden from creeping back towards field.
Big gardens are lovely to own and a lot of work to keep. That’s the heart of garden maintenance in Horne: there’s simply more lawn, more hedge and more border than a weekend can cover. We come on a regular schedule, usually fortnightly, do whatever that visit needs and leave with all the green waste.
It’s the same team every time. We learn which corner floods, which border is your favourite and where the gate sticks. You don’t need to book each visit or be home when we arrive, and we work Monday to Saturday.
What we do
- Mowing, edging and strimming every visit
- Border weeding and bed tidying
- Hedge and shrub work on a seasonal schedule
- Leaf clearance through autumn and winter
- General tidying and path sweeping
- All green waste taken away, every time

What a fortnightly garden maintenance visit covers on a big plot
Every visit starts with the lawn: cut, edged and strimmed. Then we work through whatever’s due. In spring that’s borders being weeded and cut back. In summer it’s deadheading, shrub tidying and keeping on top of growth. Autumn is leaves and the start of the hedge season. Winter visits are fewer, and they go on structural jobs like hedge reductions and rose pruning.
On a large plot we sometimes split the garden into halves on alternating visits, so the whole thing gets proper attention rather than a rushed once-over.
Keeping the boundary in check
Horne gardens that border fields or woodland have a constant edge to defend. Brambles creep in under the hedge, nettles take the back corner, and ivy climbs whatever it can reach. Left for one summer, the boundary can move a metre inwards. Woods and field hedges are lovely to live beside, but they send seedlings, leaves and ivy your way every year.
Regular visits stop that happening. We cut the base of the hedge back, pull brambles before they root and keep the edges of the lawn where they should be. It’s dull work, but it’s what keeps a country garden looking cared for.
Garden Maintenance in Horne: your questions
Anything else, just ring. You’ll speak to the people who do the work.
What do gardening services cost in Horne?
It depends on the size of the garden, what’s in it and how often you want us. We’ll walk round with you and give you a fixed price per visit. There’s no charge for the quote.
How often should garden maintenance services visit a big garden?
Fortnightly suits most Horne gardens through the growing season, with fewer visits in winter. Some larger gardens book weekly in May and June when everything is growing hard.
Do I need to be in?
No. As long as we can get into the garden, we’ll get on with it. We work between 7am and 6pm, Monday to Saturday.
What happens to the green waste?
We take it away every visit. Grass, leaves, hedge cuttings and prunings all go with us, so nothing piles up behind the shed.
