Commercial gritting in Lingfield

Commercial gritting in Lingfield

Car parks, ramps and entrances at Lingfield’s care homes, schools and business parks, gritted before the first shift.

We do commercial gritting in Lingfield for business park car parks, office entrances, ramps, paths and walkways, and for the village’s care homes, surgery, schools, shops and blocks of flats. Snow is cleared by hand from the routes people use and then salted, and before a frost we treat the evening before or early in the morning.

Lingfield has a lot of places where people arrive unsteady or in a hurry: two registered care homes, the St Piers school and college, and a surgery with more than 11,000 patients. As your gritting contractor, we come over from Horley, seven miles west, agree the routes on an autumn site walk and then watch the forecast all winter.

What we look after

  • Main entrances, doorways and steps
  • Ramps and level access routes
  • Car park walkways and disabled bays
  • Paths between buildings, bin stores and fire exits
  • Communal paths at blocks of flats
  • Snow cleared from priority routes before salting

More about commercial gritting

Commercial gritting in Lingfield

Commercial gritting in Lingfield for care homes, the surgery and schools

At a care home the route that matters most at seven in the morning is usually the side path where night staff leave and day staff arrive, then the ramp a visiting doctor or ambulance crew will use. At the surgery it’s the car park walkway, the disabled bays and the entrance step, done before the doors open at eight. Schools and the college want gates and paths treated before the first parents arrive.

Occupiers have to take reasonable care that visitors are reasonably safe. A written route plan and a dated note of every visit help you show you took sensible steps.

Car park gritting at Felcourt, the racecourse hotel and the shops

Out at Felcourt there’s a business park of 15 units at the farm and another in the old Manor House, where car park gritting covers the walking lines between the bays and each door, the shared walkways and every fire exit. The hotel beside the racecourse has guests leaving late and setting off early, so its entrances often suit an early evening visit.

Lingfield’s ground holds water. Most of the parish lies between about 46 and 76 metres, with silty clay under thin topsoil, so puddles sit at the edges of paving and set into a clear glaze overnight. In a cold spell we come back, because the wet washes salt away.

Commercial gritting in Lingfield: your questions

Anything else, just ring. You’ll speak to the people who do the work.

Can you grit our care home before the seven o’clock shift change?

Yes. With frost forecast overnight we treat the evening before, so the salt is already working when the night team head home. After overnight snow, we clear the priority routes first thing and then salt them.

We share a car park at Felcourt. Can we arrange gritting together?

Yes. The shared walkways and each unit’s entrance can go on one plan, agreed with the tenants or whoever manages the park, and every visit is recorded so each business can see what was done.

Do we need a winter gritting contract, or can we ring when it freezes?

Either works. A winter gritting contract agreed in writing before November runs until the end of March, and we come out on the forecast without a call. Pay per visit means you’re only charged when the weather brings us out.

Walk the site with us.

We’ll come out, look at the grounds with you and send a written schedule and a fixed price for the year.
