Lawn mowing in Reigate
Striped, edged and cleared lawns, cut to suit Reigate’s sand and its clay.
Lawn mowing in Reigate is a slightly different job depending on which part of town you’re in. In the old centre and out towards the heath the ground is sand, and lawns dry out fast. North of the railway on Gault, or down in Woodhatch on Weald Clay, grass sits in wet soil half the winter. We set the round, and the cutting height, around that.
Every cut is done with rear-roller Hayter mowers, so you get proper stripes. Edges are trimmed and strimmed each visit, and the clippings go in our van rather than your brown bin. It’s a residential lawn mowing service run by a small local team, with the same faces every time.
What we do
- Regular weekly, fortnightly or monthly grass cutting
- Striped finish with a rear-roller mower
- Crisp edging along paths, borders and driveways
- Strimming around trees, posts, fences and obstacles
- All clippings collected and taken away, every visit
- Cutting height adjusted through the seasons and in dry spells

Sandy lawns in central Reigate brown off first
The Folkestone Beds under the town centre are quick-draining sand. That’s lovely in February, when you can walk on the lawn while clay gardens are still squelching. It’s less lovely in July. A lawn on sand that’s been cut short goes the colour of straw within a week of dry weather. So in summer we lift the mower and leave more leaf on. It shades the soil and the roots hang on. The grass greens up once rain returns, and nobody’s wasted August with a hosepipe trying to keep it emerald.
Lawn mowing in Reigate on clay, in Woodhatch and north of the railway
Woodhatch sits on Weald Clay, and north of the railway it’s Gault, which is stiff and holds water. Lawns there start later in spring and stay soft after rain. Mowing soaked clay compacts it, and compaction is how moss gets its foot in the door. We don’t do it. If a visit lands on a wet day we move it to the next dry one and let you know. Weekly suits most lawns through May and June, then fortnightly is plenty once growth slows in high summer.
Lawn Mowing in Reigate: your questions
Anything else, just ring. You’ll speak to the people who do the work.
My garden slopes up towards Reigate Hill. Can you still mow it?
Usually, yes. Gentle banks get the roller mower and steeper bits are strimmed by hand so nobody slides. Mention the slope when you call and we’ll plan for it.
Is there a local lawn mowing service that takes the clippings away?
That’s us. Clippings are collected on every visit and leave with us, so your council brown bin stays free for your own garden waste.
How much does lawn mowing cost in Reigate?
It depends on the size of the lawn, the access, and how often you want us. Regular cuts work out better value per visit than one-offs, which is worth knowing if you’re comparing a grass cutting service near me against a one-off job. We’ll come and look, then give you a fixed price.
