Commercial gritting in Edenbridge
Trading estates, care homes, surgery paths and flats on wet valley clay, gritted before the day begins.
Commercial gritting in Edenbridge for industrial and trading units, offices and shops, care homes, the health centre, schools and blocks of flats. We treat entrances, ramps, car park walkways, fire exits and the paths between buildings by hand, the evening before a frost or first thing in the morning, so the work is done before anyone turns up.
There’s a lot of hard ground in this town. Three industrial estates went up in the 1960s with wide areas of hard surfacing, and Edenbridge Trading Centre and Warsop Trading Estate add more units again. The council’s character study picks out several care homes as well. We’re a gritting company ten miles west in Horley, over the Surrey line, and every site gets a written plan before winter.
What we look after
- Main entrances, doorways and steps
- Ramps and level access routes
- Car park walkways and disabled bays
- Paths between buildings, bin stores and fire exits
- Communal paths at blocks of flats
- Snow cleared from priority routes before salting

Commercial gritting in Edenbridge on the valley clay
Edenbridge sits on the northern edge of the Weald Clay, on the floodplain where the Eden bends through town. Water lies on yards and car parks here long after a shower, and when a clear night follows, that film freezes into a glaze. So the low corner of an estate yard, the foot of a ramp and the hard standing outside a staff door are where we look first. Some newer buildings near the river have raised entrances because of flooding, which puts extra ramps and steps on the plan.
Car park gritting at the estates and the care homes
On the industrial estates, car park gritting means the walking line from the parking to each unit door, the office entrance, the loading area where people cross on foot and the fire exits behind. For a care home or the surgery, the plan begins at the drop off point and main door, then takes in the ramp, the disabled bays, the staff entrance and the bin store path. Residents and patients reach those doors slowly, on sticks and frames, and often before it’s light. Our gritting services log each visit against the plan, which helps you show sensible steps were taken.
Commercial gritting in Edenbridge: your questions
Anything else, just ring. You’ll speak to the people who do the work.
Our head office uses a Kent contractor for everything else. Can you do just the gritting?
Yes, gritting can stand on its own. We need the routes agreed, a contact for early access and an email address for the visit records.
Can you grit the shared areas of a trading estate?
Yes. We can work for the estate’s managing agent on the shared walkways and car park routes, or for a single tenant on their own door, frontage and fire exits. Both can sit on one plan if that suits everyone.
Will salt damage the planting round our entrance?
Heavy handed, it can. We put down only what the surface needs and keep it off borders and hedge bases, which on Edenbridge’s fertile clay are often large and long established. Salty slush never gets pushed onto beds.
