Commercial gritting in Oxted
Office car parks, shop doorways and surgery walkways in Oxted, salted before the commuters set off.
We provide commercial gritting in Oxted for office car parks and entrances, shop doorways, paths and ramps at the health centre and care homes, and communal walkways at blocks of flats. Tandridge’s administrative town since 1974 has a working centre on both sides of the railway, and most of it wants treating before the first train and the first appointment.
Our team comes over from Horley, about nine miles away. We walk your site, mark the entrances, ramps, car park walkways and fire exits on a simple plan, then watch the forecast for you all winter and send a note after each visit.
What we look after
- Main entrances, doorways and steps
- Ramps and level access routes
- Car park walkways and disabled bays
- Paths between buildings, bin stores and fire exits
- Communal paths at blocks of flats
- Snow cleared from priority routes before salting

Commercial gritting in Oxted’s centre, ahead of the morning rush
An office here usually needs its main entrance, any ramp, the walkway from staff parking and the fire exits. A shop needs the threshold, the step and often a back door where deliveries arrive early. With commuters heading for the station from first light, we tend to treat the evening before a forecast frost, and after snow we’re out early to clear and salt the priority routes.
The health centre serves around 16,300 patients, and the care homes in town have residents who can least afford a fall. For those sites the plan starts with the disabled bays, the drop off point and the ramp, and every visit goes into a dated record that helps you show you took sensible steps.
Converted mansions, shaded walkways and the foot of the Downs
Plenty of Oxted’s old manors and mansions are now apartments, their shared steps and paths looked after by a residents’ company or managing agent. Below the steep southern face of the North Downs, a walkway shaded by a tall bank or a north facing wall can stay white all day. The sandy ridge at Old Oxted drains fast, while Hurst Green and Holland sit on clay with old river gravels, where water lies longer, so those spots get a second look on a hard morning.
Commercial gritting in Oxted: your questions
Anything else, just ring. You’ll speak to the people who do the work.
We’re the residents’ company for a converted mansion. Can gritting go in the service charge?
Yes. A single season arrangement agreed in writing before November gives the block one known cost for the winter, which suits resident directors and managing agents. Pay per visit is there if you’d rather only pay when it freezes.
Our shop opens at nine. Do you need someone on site?
No. We treat the doorway and steps in the evening or early in the morning while you’re closed, as long as we can reach the routes on the plan. You’ll get a note once it’s done.
Do you do car park gritting for offices?
Yes. Our gritting services cover the car park walkways, the disabled bays, the route to the entrance and the path round to any fire exit. As your gritting contractor we come back in a long cold spell, because rain and footfall wear the salt away.
