Seasonal Garden Services in Reigate

Seasonal garden maintenance in Reigate

The right jobs in the right month, for gardens under Reigate’s big old trees.

Seasonal garden maintenance in Reigate is shaped by two things, the soil and the trees. Sandy town-centre gardens wake up early in spring and dry out early in summer, while clay gardens lag behind. And the town’s limes, oaks, horse chestnuts and cedars drop an awful lot onto lawns and paths every autumn.

We do the right jobs at the right time and build them into regular visits at no extra charge. One-off seasonal jobs are fine too, such as a single autumn garden tidy up before winter sets in. Plenty of people book just that, or a spring wake-up, and handle the rest themselves.

What we do

  • Spring: cutting back, first cuts, mulching, getting ahead of weeds
  • Summer: regular upkeep, deadheading, late-summer hedge cuts
  • Autumn: leaf clearance, planting, major hedge reductions
  • Winter: dormant hedge renovation, rose pruning, mulching
  • One-off seasonal jobs as well as regular contracts
  • All seasonal work built into regular maintenance at no extra charge

Seasonal Garden Services in Reigate

Leaf clearance under Reigate’s big trees

Autumn is the busiest season here. Leaves smother lawns if they sit for weeks, and on paths and steps they turn slippery fast. Leaf clearance runs through October and November, sometimes twice, across lawns, beds, paths and drives. It’s also when the main hedge cuts happen, after nesting is over, and when borders get cut back. Spring bulbs go in now as well. Anything that won’t fit in the brown bin leaves with us.

Seasonal garden maintenance in Reigate: early on sand, late on clay

In March a lawn on the Folkestone Beds in the town centre can be dry enough for a high first cut, while one on the Weald Clay at Woodhatch is still too soft to stand on. We go by the ground, not the calendar. Spring means cutting back last year’s growth, first cuts, edging and mulching before weeds get going. Summer is steady upkeep, deadheading and a light hedge tidy once we’ve checked for nests. Winter is rose pruning, hedge renovation and mulch.

Seasonal Services in Reigate: your questions

Anything else, just ring. You’ll speak to the people who do the work.

When should I book an autumn garden tidy up?

Late October or early November, once most of the leaves are down. If your garden sits under big trees, two visits a few weeks apart work better than one.

Is seasonal work extra on a regular contract?

No. It’s built into regular maintenance at no extra charge. The visit just changes with the time of year.

Can I book regular garden maintenance near me just for spring and autumn?

Yes. Some people do the summer mowing themselves and get us in for the big seasonal jobs. We’re happy to work that way.

Can you plant spring bulbs on the same autumn visit?

Yes. Autumn is the time for daffodils, tulips and alliums, and they can go into borders or pots while we’re clearing leaves. On Reigate’s lighter, sandy soil we plant them a little deeper so they don’t dry out.
