Autumn garden tidy in Edenbridge
Leaf clearance, cutting back and spring preparation for Edenbridge gardens, timed to the weather.
An autumn garden tidy in Edenbridge sets up the whole of the next year. Leaves come down from the town’s big trees, perennials flop, and hedges that had to wait through nesting season can finally be cut. Get it done before the clay turns soft and sticky in November, and spring is a lot easier.
We work right through the year. Spring is for first cuts and mulching, summer is about keeping up, and winter is for dormant pruning and the heavier hedge work. You can book any of it as a single visit, or let a regular round pick each job up at the right moment.
What we do
- Spring: cutting back, first cuts, mulching, getting ahead of weeds
- Summer: regular upkeep, deadheading, late-summer hedge cuts
- Autumn: leaf clearance, planting, major hedge reductions
- Winter: dormant hedge renovation, rose pruning, mulching
- One-off seasonal jobs as well as regular contracts
- All seasonal work built into regular maintenance at no extra charge

Autumn garden tidy and leaf clearance under the big trees
The conservation area appraisal calls the town’s trees integral to its character. There are pollarded limes along Stangrove Road and in the churchyard, cedars on the High Street, and many mature trees across Stangrove Park. If you live near any of them, you’ll know how many leaves end up on your lawn. Leaves left lying on grass through November block the light and leave yellow patches and moss behind. We clear lawns, beds and paths, and come back for a second pass in December when the last of them have dropped.
Seasonal garden maintenance through a clay year
Clay sets the calendar. In spring we wait until the ground is dry enough to walk on before the first cut and the main mulch. Summer means regular mowing, deadheading and a light hedge trim once the birds have fledged. Autumn brings leaf clearance, cutting back, bulb planting and the main hedge reductions. In winter, when the ground is often too wet for mowing, we prune roses, renovate overgrown shrubs and hedges, and mulch borders. Regular customers get all of it built into their visits at no extra charge.
Seasonal Services in Edenbridge: your questions
Anything else, just ring. You’ll speak to the people who do the work.
When is the best time for an autumn garden tidy up?
Late October into November, once most of the leaves are down but before the ground gets too wet to work. A second visit in December catches the stragglers.
Should I cut everything back in autumn?
Not everything. Seed heads on grasses and sedums look good through winter and feed the birds. We cut back what has collapsed or gone mushy and leave the rest until late winter.
Can I book a one-off seasonal visit?
Yes. A spring wake-up or an autumn tidy can be booked on its own. If you’d like the garden looked after all year, a regular visit covers the seasonal jobs as they come round.
